Teri Rogers, Acupressurist, Holistic Health Practitioner, Writer, Healer, and Naturopath — has been studying massage and Eastern healing arts since 1980 and teaching massage since 1983. Teri has taught Acupressure for three different colleges, massage conferences and exclusive spa groups here in the U.S. She has also traveled extensively throughout Asia studying and teaching with various schools, teachers, Masters and healers. Some of those locations have included China, Hawaii, Mexico, Bali, Lombok, the Philippines and Thailand. In 1990 she lived in Chiang Mai and was the second foreigner ever to teach Traditional Thai Massage in Thailand (after Asokananda) – at the Old Medicine Hospital – The Foundation of Shivago Komarpaj. She also studied extensively with all of the great teachers and masters throughout Thailand and has taught, studied and traveled there for several months a year since that time. Teri currently maintains a successful practice working with Doctors (both Eastern & Western), Chiropractors and Healers. Her clients are people of all ages, and all walks of life. She loves working with animals as well. Along with all of her teaching, practicing, educational videos and writing – she also takes students on annual study trips throughout the Far East.

Inspired at an early age by the ability to affect change in people’s bodies, restoring mobility and reducing pain, Terra Sutton pursued a career in healing, fitness and massage therapy, offering a blended approach of structural bodywork. Terra studied with Dr. Leonard Laskow in Holoenergetic Healing from 1993-1996, The Swedish Institute in NYC 1996-1997 and gained Fitness Trainer Cert. in 1997 from ACE and ECA. Miss Sutton shifted her practice primarily to Bowenwork in 2005 when she first witnessed the elegance and efficiency at which the body can recover and reorganize with specific and gentle support of Tom Bowen’s unique Australian modality. Terra now practices and teaches the Practitioner Certification Training for the American Bowen Academy primarily in California, Nevada and Hawaii. She looks forward to bringing the Bowen Training to Alaska and where the invitation arises.

I have been a Bowenwork practitioner since 1996 and an instructor for the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia since 2001. I teach primarily in the area around Washington, D.C., and maintain a private practice in Springfield, Virginia.

I discovered Bowenwork quite by chance in 1995 while recovering from a repetitive stress injury. Amazed by the results, I took the first available training I could. At first I split my practice almost equally between Bowenwork and Rubenfeld Synergy (a type of body-oriented psychotherapy I had trained in previously). But after observing that Bowenwork was often effective with complaints ranging from anxiety and panic attacks to depression, my practice evolved to where it is now exclusively Bowenwork.

My original training in curriculum design and educational technology gave me insight into the way that different people learn, which I find invaluable to my effectiveness as an instructor. I keep my classes small in order to ensure ample individual feedback. My students have included massage therapists, acupuncturists, chiropractors, homeopaths, occupational therapists, osteopaths, and physical therapists, but I especially enjoy empowering lay-people to be able to deliver the benefits of Bowenwork to others.

Unlike most Bowenwork instructors, I studied anatomy, physiology, massage and bodywork after I had become a Bowenwork practitioner, rather than before. If I could learn this, anyone can!”

In 2002, I was an invited speaker at the Australian BTAA Conference in Adelaide, on the topic of research into Bowenwork, and became an advisor to the Tom Bowen Legacy Trust Fund, an Australian charity that benefits children with disabilities. In that capacity I reported on the activities of the Trust Fund at the International Bowenwork Conference at Yale University (New Haven, Connecticut) in June 2006.

Thanks to Shirley Strachan’s “Healing Hands: Unsung Voices Anthology,” which chronicles the experiences of many of Tom Bowen’s former patients, as well as others, I am currently developing a continuing education class that clarifies “Tom Bowen, Facts and Fiction.” Stay tuned.

Wendy graduated from The Baltimore School of Massage in January 2002. She became nationally certified in March 2002. She is a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Maryland and became a Certified Bowenwork Practitioner in October 2008. Since beginning her practice, she looked for a manual therapy that would provide long lasting results.She has finished her training in Specialized Procedures 1 and 2.

Hi, I’m Yvonne Fisher, owner of Insight Body Therapies. I am a PA licensed and nationally certified (since 2004) massage therapist specializing in Bowenwork soft tissue therapy. I’ve been practicing Bowenwork since 2005, and have found it to be so effective that it’s become about 95% of my work. Support therapies that I also offer are Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Reiki and Reconnective Healing. My office is located in Ft. Washington, PA, just north of Philadelphia.
