An overarching life passion of mine has been supporting and guiding others (well, me too!) in experiencing more ease and more joy in life. This passion has been expressed over the years in many roles, from managing a food coop and teaching people about food’s effects on the body and mind, to working with corporate executives leading diversity work (as we called it in those days). In 2003 I founded Turning Light Center teaching Yoga and Meditation. Still looking for more ways to help people break their cycles of pain and limitations and get back to fully living their lives, I trained extensively and certified in Therapeutic Yoga (IAYT). I have also trained in Neurodevelopmental Movement, Somatics, Pranayama (science of breath), Meditation, Ayurveda, and Family Constellations. All of these modalities influence me, helping me “see” and support the whole person.
Then in early 2017 I discovered Bowenwork, fell in love, and immediately started my training, completing my coursework and case studies by the end of the year. I am thrilled to add this to what I offer clients – and they are too! I feel Bowenwork and Yoga Therapy in particular offer a wonderful combination suitable to nearly any body and any needs! I have continued Bowenwork studies of Advanced practices, a fascinating course on Fascia the latest research highlighting Bowen applications. And now I am a certified Wellness Associate (ABA) and can offer “Introductory Bowenwork” to anyone wanting to learn more and then share some wonderful basic Bowenwork with family, friends, and yourself! Clients may choose Bowenwork, Yoga Therapy, MSTR (McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release) or any combination of services.
I look forward to working with you to bring more Ease and Joy into your life!

It was 20 years ago that I found Bowen as a way to help my sciatic pain without medication. I did not want to continue taking Tylenol and I buprofen to get relief. Bowen was the only other thing that gave me relief. Over 10 years ago my Bowen practitioner stopped doing bowen to pursue other interests. I was unable to find anybody that did Bowen and gave up my search. Three years ago my Chiropractor told me about the Bowen Team in Kennebunk. Bowen makes everything in my body feel better. After working as a nurse for 45 years, I had finally retired when I had the opportunity to learn to do Bowen. Like others my plan was to be able to learn to do Bowen on myself. After practicing on family and friends and seeing the benefits it provided, I had to keep going and learning more. I am a Black belt in Shaoilin Kempo Karate and Bowen works well on new injuries for myself and others. I have been teaching T`ai Chi for 25 years. I look forward to continue on the path of caring for people, but in a different way than I did as a nurse.

I have been a professional massage therapist since 1987. I discovered Bowen Therapy in 2009 after 12 years of dealing with fibromyalgia, in 3 months time I went from a pain level of 8-10 to a 0-3; these results started me on the path to learning Bowen, leaving massage and developing a full time practice of doing Bowenwork therapy.
I am also an End of Life Doula and often use Bowen as comfort touch for people at the end of life.

Following 25 years in high tech sales and communications, I found myself in need of better health, balance, creative growth, & professional expression.
Bowenwork found me following a riding injury. The short story of my transformation from “client to practitioner and associate instructor” occurred between 2011-2014; completing basic, advanced, professional, and Associate Instructor certifications.
I’ve worked in clinical practice since 2012, supporting clients (individual & small group), and teaching the 4 hour Rescue Protocols class.
As of 2022, I’ve expanded my office size & added new service offerings; incorporating remote sessions, mini sessions, private and small group sessions – encouraging clients to mix/match offerings to suite their ongoing well being long term.
As a co-founding member of the Bowenwork for Fascial Health Team, we delivered monthly free Bowenwork clinics to ME & NH seacoast residents for 6+ yrs until our hiatus in February 2020 due to Covid-19.
The pandemic created other opportunities to develop web based tools for clients (Facebook, YouTube & tools at my website: @www.bowenwork4health.com.)
I was once told by a health care provider that my back pain would never improve. Bowenwork proved him wrong.
Sharing the Bowenwork Difference has become one of my greatest joys. Let’s collaborate and see what healing your body is waiting to unlock!
In Health & Inspiration, Lisa Toole
